Mealo, operated by Andrew Do ("us", "we", or "our"), provides the Mealo mobile application (the "Service"). This page explains how personal data is collected, used, and disclosed when you use the Service, and the choices available to you.
We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service to you.
Account Data: If you choose Sign in with Apple, we receive a stable account identifier and, on first sign-in, the name and email address you choose to share. You may use the private email relay to hide your address.
Usage and Diagnostic Data: We keep limited records needed to operate and improve the Service, such as privacy-bounded product events, AI feature usage and credit counts, request outcomes, and technical error information. Product analytics use a pseudonymous account or device identifier and coarse event properties. We do not send meal or note text, search terms, names, or email addresses to product analytics, and session replay, screen capture, touch recording, and automatic interaction capture are disabled. Our hosting provider may also process standard request information, such as IP address and device or browser details, for security and service delivery.
Purchase Data: When you buy or restore Mealo Pro, the app platform processes the payment. We receive and store limited subscription records, including the product identifier, original transaction identifier, subscription status, renewal status, and relevant purchase or expiry dates, so we can provide and restore Pro access.
Meal Content: Your notes and shopping list are stored locally on your device and are not synced to a Mealo account. When you deliberately request an AI feature, the relevant note text and preferences are sent for processing as described in section 7. We do not store a cloud copy of your complete notes as part of that request.
Mealo uses the collected data for various purposes:
Your information, including Personal Data, may be transferred to and maintained on computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ than those from your jurisdiction.
Mealo may disclose your Personal Data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:
The security of your data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
We rely on a small number of trusted third-party processors to run the Service. They access only the data needed to perform their function and are obligated not to use it for any other purpose. By category, these are:
Mealo's meal assistance is AI-generated. When you tap the AI control, the relevant note text and saved food preferences are sent to a third-party AI provider's API to answer the request or update the note. We do not send your name, email, or Mealo account identifier in the AI prompt. Under that provider's API data usage terms, content submitted through the API is not used to train their models. AI output can be inaccurate, so always double-check quantities and allergens before you shop or cook.
We retain account, subscription, and AI usage records while your account exists and as required for security, support, and legal obligations. Your complete meal notes remain on your device. When you delete your account, we remove the account-linked data we control from our systems, subject to any limited retention required by law.
You can permanently delete your account and associated server data at any time from within the app: Settings → Data controls → Delete account. This cannot be undone. Local notes can be removed with Settings → Data controls → Clear all data or by deleting the app. You may also contact us to request access to, or deletion of, your data.
Mealo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
